Thai Island Dream Marine Conservation and PADI Course

Basic Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival into Bangkok
Arriving on a Thursday, you will be collected from the airport and taken to a local guest house to relax.

Day 2: Thai Cooking Class, Traditional Massage and Puppet Show
You will begin your experience of Thailand with a thoroughly enjoyable hands-on class in the art of Thai cooking, led in English by an experienced Thai professional. After 4 hours of intense aromas and tastes, you can relax and stretch out with a 2-hour world-famous Thai Massage. Your day will be rounded off with an exciting dinner and traditional Thai puppet show, before you return to your hotel.

Day 3: Cultural Orientation and Sightseeing
You will be collected by our Kaya Coordinator in Bangkok in the morning for your cultural orientation which will include a bit of history about Thailand, a Thai language class and a mouthwatering Thai lunch. You will also be taken around some of Bangkok’s most famous sites and travel by boat down the main river to the beautiful Grand Palace. In the evening, you will be transferred by an air conditioned sleeper bus and connecting ferry to the island of Koh Tao where you will be met by the Dive Team the following morning.  

Day 4: Arrival to Koh Tao, Project Orientation
You will be collected when you arrive to the pier in Koh Tao and taken to your accommodation to settle in and relax. You will receive a short briefing and orientation of the dive courses that you will be undertaking as well as some more information about Koh Tao Island at the projects Dive Centre. The rest of the day is yours to rest, unpack and get acclimatized.

Day 5 – Day 7: Open Water PADI Qualification
You will spend 3 days obtaining your Open Water PADI Qualification (if you don’t already possess the certification). Time will be spent in the classroom as well as underwater to provide you with basic knowledge on diving, signals, the sea and your equipment. You will generally be working from 9am to 5pm but there are ample breaks for you to take it all in!

Day 8 – Day 9: Advanced PADI Qualification
Your Advanced Certification will cover 2 days and will see you enhancing your dive skills underwater. You will be given the opportunity to go on night dives, as well as to learn about navigation and conservation activities. Your working day will be from 9am to 5pm as with your Open Water Qualification and time will again be spend underwater and in the classroom.

Day 10: A Taste of Muay Thai
Get your game face ready! Today you will have a 2 hour Muay Thai session in the village of Sairee. Dust off those gloves, get ready to sweat and experience the real fire of Thailand! In the afternoon, we know you’ve earned your rest, so spend the rest of your day at leisure exploring the surrounding beaches, making use of your pre-booked massage, or just spending quality time with each other.

Day 11: Relaxation
Spend today at leisure. Soak up some sun, make use of your pre-booked massage or while away the hours snorkeling the beautiful off shore reefs.

Day 12 – Day 16: Conservation Activities
This week will be jam packed with marine conservation work. Help to identify species, work on reef restoration and help with underwater clean-ups. You’ll be working from 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday.

Day 17: Departure
You will be free to depart from Koh Tao at any time on this day, either to continue your exploration of Thailand or to transfer back to Bangkok. Should you need an early departure, contact us and we will let the resort know you’ll be leaving early.

As so many people choose to stay in the region and travel, we leave the coordination of onward travel in your hands. If you are travelling back to Bangkok, we are happy to help you organise this, either by bus and ferry as on your outward journey, or by ferry to Koh Samui with a flight connection to Bangkok.
