Basic Itinerary


Day 1: Arrive into Belize
Saturday will be your arrival day and you will be collected from the airport and taken to your volunteer house where you can relax for the afternoon and check out the quaint town of San Ignacio.

Day 2: Project Orientation and Site Visit
You will have your orientation at one of the local Mayan ruin sites to introduce you to the culture of Belize and the next two weeks of your volunteer honeymoon. We will also recommend some great places to visit in your spare evenings as well as great museums, parks and ruins to visit in the local area. In the afternoon you will have a quick stop at the project site where you be introduced to the sustainable children’s home and its missions and goals.

Day 3: Introduction to Volunteer Work
You will begin your day with a presentation of the tasks that you will be getting involved with during your 2 weeks in Belize, alongside an introduction to the team members who you will be working with. Your working day will be 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Day 4 – Day 7: Volunteer Work
You will continue work at the project site. Your working hours this week will continue to be 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Day 8 – Day 12: Volunteer Work
You will continue your volunteering with another 5 days of project work.

Day 8: Actun Tunichil Muknal – Overnight Adventure Caving
This weekend you will travel back in time and discover lost worlds that have been hidden by the Maya for centuries. You will see burial chambers with calcified remains, ceremonial vessels and other artefacts left by the Maya.

You will start your trip by heading to Tapir National Park Reserve where you will hike and cross rivers to set up camp late afternoon. You will have an introduction to the caves and experience a night entry to the first chamber.

Day 9: Jungle Trek
After breakfast, you will continue your adventure to more caves where you will then have your lunch and a short rest! In the afternoon you will do some rappelling into the main ceremonial chamber to visit various local artefacts and skeletal remains. Once you have finished your visit, you will head back to town where you will arrive at around 6pm.

Day 10 – Day 13: Volunteering
Continue with your volunteer project from 8:00am to 3:00pm each day.

Day 14: Half Day Volunteer Work
Your final day will be a half day at the project site. For the rest of your afternoon you can say your farewells, pack up and do some last minute exploring of the sights!

Day 15: Depart from Belize
We will transfer you back to Belize city airport for you flight home.
